Privacy Policy

Introduction

Image to Polaroid ("Polaroid," "we," "our," or "us") is a free web application that transforms your photos into polaroid-style images. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Browser-Only Processing

All image processing happens entirely in your browser. Your photos are never uploaded to our servers. When you select an image, it is processed using the HTML Canvas API directly on your device.

  • No uploads: Your images never leave your device
  • No storage: We do not store your images on any server
  • No transmission: Image data is not sent over the network

EXIF Data

The app reads EXIF metadata (camera settings, date, GPS location) from your images to display on the polaroid. This data is extracted and processed entirely in your browser. If your image contains GPS coordinates, reverse geocoding may use the Nominatim API to convert coordinates to a place name — only the coordinates are sent, not your image.

Data We Collect

We use privacy-focused analytics (Umami) to understand general usage patterns. This collects:

  • Page views (anonymized, no personal identifiers)
  • General browser and device type
  • Referrer information

We do not use cookies, do not track individual users, and do not collect personal information.

No Account Required

Polaroid does not require an account, login, or registration. There is nothing to sign up for and no personal data to provide.

Third-Party Services

  • Nominatim (OpenStreetMap): Used for reverse geocoding GPS coordinates to place names. Only coordinates are sent, subject to OpenStreetMap's privacy policy
  • Umami Analytics: Privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics. No personal data is collected
